Stamping with Washi Tape? You've got to be joking!

Suspension Card Tutorial with Paper Blooms

Today I've got a suspension card using brand new paper from the Salebration catalogue and an old favourite stamp from Butterfly Gala.

I started off with a standard card base in SeaSide spray measuring 8¼" x 5⅞" and scored on the long side at 4⅛"

From the front of the card I trimmed 2" off the right hand side.  From this piece of scrap card, I trimmed it to 1" wide and discarded the rest.

I've decorated my card by putting a layer of Night of Navy card over each of the front card pieces.  One of those measures 2" x 5¾" smaller piece measures ⅞" x 5¾".  The DSP layers in Paper Blooms measure 1⅞" x 5⅝" and ¾" x 5⅝"

Using the Butterfly Gala stamp set I stamped four butterflies - 2 in Rococo Rose ink on Rococo Rose card and 2 in Seaside Spray in on Seaside Spray card.  I then punched those out using the Butterfly Duet punch.

I stuck the middle of one of those butterflies onto the middle of the other butterfly to make it look like the wings are fluttering

I stuck a mini stamping dimensional on the tip of the top wing and the opposite tip of the bottom wing and then stuck them to the main card and to the extra piece making sure the free piece of layered card lined up with the back of my card base.

I did the same with the butterfly at the bottom and made sure that they were pointing in different directions.  Using the Story Label punch I punched out the label in Night of Navy card and sliced that in half horizontally and then punched another one in Seaside spray.  I stuck the two halves of the navy card to give a layered label effect.

I stamped a sentiment from the Gorgeous Posies stamp set and finished the card off with a few rhinestones.

You don't have to use butterflies for this card.  We have flower punches that would work; balloon punches and heart punches.  You can use any shape you like as long as it joins one side of the card to the other.
