Lipstick Gift Box

I have two teenage daughters and at Christmas and birthdays I end up buying them a lot of makeup.  The boxes that lipsticks arrive in can be a bit drab (I admit some can be stunning) but if you wanted to jazz up your gift box why not trying making your own bespoke, made to measure gift box.

I've used the foil frenzy designer series paper for a couple reasons.  One, its very robust and can withstand its shape once the gift is placed inside.  And secondly, its absolutely flipping gorgeous!!

I made this one 5 and a quarter inches wide and an inch high.  You can customize the width and height however you want.  The construction is exactly the same.  Click here to watch the video

Start off with a piece of card measuring 5 1/4 inches by 5 inches.

Score on the long side at 1 inch and 4 1/4 inches.

Score on the short side 1/2 inch, 1 1/2 inches, 2 1/2 inches, 3 1/2 inches and 4 1/2 inches.  Your score lines should look like this:

Next remove the following areas of your work:

Fold and burnish all of your score lines.

You will need to cut away part of the squares on the left and right side of your work so that they look like this.  The middle squares should stay intact.

You will need to put adhesive on the following sections.  Note that the adhesive on the tabs should be on the right side of the paper

Fold the bottom rectangle inwards and attach it to the inside of the box.  Fold the tabs inside the squares to form the box (the video explains this)

Using the circle punch, create a thumb space to making opening the box easier.

Finally, slightly wedge into the top flap of the lid to make opening and shutting smoother

And your box is finished awaiting its contents.  You could embellish this if you wanted to with a bow, or some sparkly gems.  Alternatively, you could tie a ribbon around it to keep it completely shut (and to keep prying eyes out).
