Stamping with Washi Tape? You've got to be joking!

Time to Step It Up with Simply Elegant by Stampin' Up!

Hello and thank you for dropping in.  Today I'm taking part in the Stampin' Dreams Step It Up Blog Hop and I'm using the Simply Elegant designer series paper and the Scalloped Contour dies.

So, with the theme being Step It Up, I needed to raise my game.  When it comes to cardmaking, I tend to go cardbase, layer, dsp, sentiment, done.  So for this card there were some extras.

Firstly, I've used speciality paper with lovely gold foiling in it.  Secondly, I've used the scalloped die from the Scalloped Contour dies to create a multi layered top with gold foil paper and basic white.

Next, I've used heat embossing and created a gold flower from the Color & Contour stamp set and die cut this and finished the card off with some gold twine.

Let me show you the steps as to how I made it:

I've got a basic black card base measuring 11½" x 4⅛", scored on the long side at 5¾".  I've attached a piece of DSP measuring 5" x 4" and stuck this to the card leaving a gap at the top.  Then with basic white and gold foil, I die cut the scallop from the bottom of each of these layers.  I started with the basic white layer wider than the gold so I could line up the scallops and trim to match.  How deep you want these layers is entirely up to you.  Mine are around 2.5" and 2"

I stamped a scrap of basic black card with versa mark ink - I chose the flower from the Color & Contour stamp set, covered the stamp with gold embossing folder and set it with a heat tool.  Using the flower die from the Scalloped Contour dies, I die cut out the flower

Now time to put everything together but not before I stamped my sentiment (also from the Color & Contour stamp) in Basic Grey.

I wrapped some gold twine into loops and stuck this behind my flower which I stuck down with mini stampin' dimensionals.

And here's the finished card
